It took me a while to develop what was needed to faithfully capture the human face.  This is now one of my favorite subjects.  I have done portraits of family, friends, and historical figures.

These are pictures that have been inspired by my own Christian faith.

I love details when I draw, and God has put a wealth of detail in nature.  Many of my favorite subjects have focused in on details of nature's wonder and beauty.

I work with a range of themes, all utilizing color pencil as the primary medium. My style is realistic, and the color pencil medium lends itself well to fine detail.  The categories below represent the range of topics and subjects that I have drawn.  Each section below links to a selection of my works.  Please browse and enjoy!

Another form of portrait is a house portrait.  Many homeowners enjoy seeing their home rendered in colored pencil.  It also makes a thoughtful gift.

I live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and much of my inspiration comes from what I see around me, and from my travels around the world with my husband.

I have heard it said that the best way to improve your craft is by learning from the masters.  Since colored pencil is a relatively new medium, it was my intent to see if other types of media can be rendered in colored pencil.  So far, I have been able to render to my satisfaction some well-know works of art that were done in oil paints.

I have always been a fan of history.  This category includes topics of historical interest, some with a patriotic flavor.

Our home is next door to one of the better vineyards in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  Cave Ridge Vineyard is located on a hillside overlooking the Blue Ridge, and has inspired several of my works.

Pictures in the Fantasy Category are fun to create.

I loved to ride the carousel when I was young.  I have always been fascinated by carousels.  Everywhere I go, I look for unique examples of the classic horses that I enjoyed riding as a child.  These pictures comprise a series of seven of my favorites.

Animals are a favorite subject of mine.  As an animal lover myself, I try to capture their personalities in the portrait.  Some of these works were commissioned in remembrance of pets who have passed on.  A remembrance portrait seems to have a healing effect for the owner.
